Project Aim
The Bulwell Vision Partnership is a Local Area Partnership which acts as an ‘Umbrella Organisation’ aiming to bring together groups & individuals living and working in Bulwell. It does not seek to duplicate what other organisations are doing, but tries to encourage organisations to talk, plan and work together in partnership with local residents.
The organisation aims to reduce economic and social exclusion in Bulwell, by further developing partnership structures and engaging people in community regeneration to ensure that these disadvantaged communities benefit from economic growth in Nottingham.
Project Description
What the project is?
The project is developing the Local Area Partnership, building on existing structures to make them more robust and representative, and working with disadvantaged groups and individuals to build capacity locally. Bulwell Vision undertake detailed needs analyses in areas such as business and community enterprise, lifelong learning, youth provision and health, which more recently as produced a Sports and child care audit which will inform the ongoing development of a local strategy.
The project develops a newsletter (The Bulwellian), which is delivered free to more than 14,000 households as part of a broader communication and involvement strategy. Bulwell Vision employ a Community Involvement Worker and a Capacity Building Worker who are employed to disseminate information locally, raise awareness of local opportunities, involve new volunteers in local activities and consult with local people on a range of issues.
The Bulwell Vision Partnership Development project continues to support local community groups; encouraging them to share information and practises and engaging them in capacity building programmes.
The project develops private, public & voluntary/community sector involvement in local partnership structures, including Bulwell Vision and the Area Committee and develops sustainable links between businesses, schools and local community organisations. The project will also undertake needs analyses with the private sector to inform the development of new initiatives.
The design of the Bulwell Vision Partnership Project seeks to ensure equality of opportunity by involving those in our area that have become socially and economically excluded. This involvement has been pro-active in consultation, surveys and feedback referred to elsewhere in this report, and has been crucial in outlining the need to deepen the project, enabling us to further develop work with specific target groups.
