Bulwell Vision began in 1991 and to some extent was a revival and development of its forerunners Bulwell forum and the Bulwell Under 5 Years Group. Its aims were similar to today's, in that it tried to address some of the perceived needs of Bulwell's young people and families by working with community, voluntary and statutory bodies.

Various small pots of money were drawn down to fund activities, projects and research. It was run by a dedicated voluntary Steering Group and acted as an informal local partnership.

Things changed dramatically in 1998 when the Single Regeneration Budget became available for areas suffering high levels of deprivation. This fund allowed Bulwell Vision to employ staff that instigated partnership working through the creation of several themed sub-groups. The organisation took on the responsibility of appraising other projects developing in the area. It also held a 'Local Ideas Fund' that was used by community groups to create new, and support existing, initiatives in Bulwell.

In 2001 Bulwell Vision became a company limited by guarantee becoming Bulwell Vision Ltd. The committed Steering Group became a Management Committee taking on a greater strategic role than before.

Bulwell Vision Ltd. has grown, both in terms of staff numbers and in the quantity and quality of its achievements. It is highly regarded by both the partners it works with and the local community it serves.
